Split is a charming city with beautiful views, brightly painted buildings, and vibrant purple bougainvillea that blanket the walls and balconies of of the ancient city. With the tempting scents escaping the numerous cafés, the historic buildings, and the iconic clock tower, the square serves as a natural convening place for tourists and locals alike. I arrived early morning before the city awakened, and remained there for several hours people watching: an older gentleman window shopping for sunglasses while enjoying a refreshing ice cream; a nun and her companion hurrying through the busy streets arm-in-arm; a woman caught mid-bite, also enjoying an ice cream.
